Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR) is advertising a job opening for a “Specialist in Geophysics” to join the company at their office in Kópavogur or Akureyri, Iceland.

This role involves specialized work in geophysics, including measurements, data processing, and interpretation. Emphasis is placed on surface exploration methods, including resistivity measurements and their development for geothermal research. The projects are diverse, encompassing research, innovation, and professional development opportunities. ÍSOR’s clients range from energy companies and public entities to businesses and individuals, spanning both domestic and international sectors.

This is a 100% position at ÍSOR’s office in Kópavogur or Akureyri, Iceland. The job may involve working in rural areas, overseas, and sometimes long workdays.

Education and qualification requirements:

  • Master’s degree in geophysics, physics, or related fields.
  • Good knowledge and experience of geophysical measurements and data processing.
  • Experience in geothermal projects, natural hazard assessments, or other natural resource and environmental research is preferred.
  • Programming experience is an asset.
  • Initiative and disciplined work methods.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
